Police, Arrests & Suspects: The True Story of a Front Line Officer by John Donoghue
Odd True Tales, Volume 2. Yes, We Treat Aardvarks. Even though most of the stories are of a light hearted nature, there are a couple of more serious ones in there. It certainly made me value what our police officers do even more after reading this book.
A very different type of crime book but one I think readers will certainly be entertained by. Many thanks to the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Jun 19, Gingercat rated it really liked it. The book is split into 17 chapters, each with eye-catching titles and each chapter containing its own standalone story. I took my Kindle to work and limited myself to one chapter a day during my lunch hour — a great interlude during a busy working day. The book does at times border on the ridiculous, however it is great fun and a thoroughly engaging read.
The author certainly knows how to tell a tale, seeing the humour in most situations. Overall, a humorous and very entertaining read. Another fun read from PC Donoghue! He invites the reader along for a ride to meet some of the unique characters he has dealt with in his law enforcement career thus far and his descriptions of many of the situations in which he finds himself made me laugh out loud.
Along with many incidents that have one giggling, there are one or two that remind the reader just how much danger police officers face every time they go to work. So pour yourself a cuppa, get comfortable and let PC Donoghue give you a reason or two to laugh!

Ever wondered just what it is that police officers do? Read this book and find out. At times funny and sometimes frightening. Scary clown twins anyone? This book will show you that police officers deal with almost anything. Well worth reading and encouraging others to read too.

Chapter One will crack you up. If you like his other books then this is a must. John told me today that he's already started work on a new book too: Dec 05, Melissa Smith rated it it was amazing. Still laughing Highly recommended for those who like hearing about police work and also enjoy a good belly laugh. Donoghue does it again! May 28, Janice rated it really liked it. A highly amusing anecdotal account of life as a long suffering front line police officer recommended for anybody with a sense of humour.
Probably a good choice of book for anybody considering joining the force in that they might then consider a career in IT, accountancy, sales - well anything else instead really. For those of a sensitive nature it's worth mentioning that there are one or two smutty jokes along the way and maybe it's a wee bit sexist at times does that make it not quite PC I won A highly amusing anecdotal account of life as a long suffering front line police officer recommended for anybody with a sense of humour. Police, Arrests and Suspects is very readable and will make you laugh and cringe at the same time, in fact given some of the tragic characters if you didnt laugh you'd cry. At the same it's quite informative and I look forward to reading Donoghue's next book Sep 18, Beth rated it liked it Shelves: A very readable, funny account of a British front-line police officer.
