There's an energy to his prose that makes whatever he's writing about on that page seem immensely important, at the same time that his dominant aesthetic is It's not what most people would call a "successful" book--it's uneven and incoherent--but then again it doesn't pretend to be anything other than a collection of essays on sexual subjectivity.
